Carpenter Mine Road

Description

This trail follows the grade of the historic Book Cliff Railroad north of Grand Junction to the ghost town of Carpenter.

Highlights

Enjoy a visit to the Carpenter ghost town.  A coal vein discovered by George Smith in 1874 led to the establishment of a mining camp and later a railroad to transport the coal to Grand Junction.
